You guys. I did it. I conquered my fear of heights (well, kind of because does that fear ever actually completely go away?) and I completed not one but TWO obstacle courses in the sky.

Suspended between trees.

Seemingly so far up from the ground.

With legs shaking and heart pounding and mouth drying out from the nerves.

But the important thing is that I did it AND I’d go back to do it again. (Never thought those words would come out of my mouth.)

So here’s how it went. I invited my new friend Yamel from Kurly Crown and her husband to join us in the trees at TreeHoppers Aerial Adventure Park in Dade City, and I was so happy to hear that she has the same fear. At least I wasn’t alone in my nerves up there as our husbands easily made their way from one obstacle to the next. Mike even did some tricks on the zip line that he thought were really impressive, but I could do nothing but shake my head and lightly giggle at. Because, you know, it was funny, but also a little crazy.

Anyway, TreeHoppers far exceeded my expectations, half because I had low expectations for my abilities and half because it was way more fun than I ever gave it credit for before visiting.

First, the TreeHoppers staff are experts. That’s what you were hoping to hear, right? They absolutely were. After getting our harness, we made our way to a training area that pretty much sets you up for success in the trees. We were able to practice clipping our safety harness, zip lining, maneuvering on boards and more just a couple feet off the ground. This helped put my mind at ease.

The staff helped us get into our straps and made sure we were tightened up for the course. We chose to start on one of the simplest courses you can because #scaredandconfused and also because #reallysupportivehusbands. And you know what? It was a blast! So much fun that we upgraded for the next course, going higher into the trees and with more zip lines and more difficulty. I wanted to keep going and going, but the courses do take a while and it’s easy to spend the better part of your day there.

Turns out that I love zip lining and if there were an entire course that allowed me to do just that for 20 minutes straight, I would’ve requested that one. There were some elements of the courses that had me really nervous, wondering if I could even take the step to start, but once I was on my way, it was more fun than anything else. Exhilarating. Thrilling. And such a great way to meet my fears head-on.

I truly cannot recommend TreeHoppers enough. There are nine courses to choose from, ranging from easy to crazy (seriously, that’s what it’s called). There is even a small course for little ones up to six years of age. These courses have a total of over 100 elements (obstacles) and 15 zip lines!

I seriously cannot wait to go back. Who wants to come next time?
