Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic in Tampa
It’s funny what you’re finally exposed to when you join the parenthood club.
Like, I could never have named Paw Patrol characters until now, and I certainly didn’t know anything about Blippi and his wildly popular YouTube channel. I had heard parents refer to characters before, without having a clue who the character was and what they were all about. I’ve asked friends for gift suggestions for the little ones I buy gifts for, and then need clarification around who exactly that character is and what they are known for.
Something about JoJo and big bows? Why is that a thing?
But, there’s something comforting about the same characters being in existence for countless years. Sesame Street is that show. How long has Elmo and Big Bird and my personal favorite, Cookie Monster, been singing songs and teaching kiddos good lessons and manners? A really, really long time.
I remember being enamored with Sesame Street as a child, and it’s so fun to see my son feels the same way. Those same lessons are there. Those same characters are dancing around on screen. Just goes to show that perhaps you don’t need new characters all the time with frilly accessories (although I’m sure some is fun). The tried and true characters of everyone’s childhood are imparting the same knowledge on our youth for decades to come.
When I had the opportunity to see Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic at the Yuengling Center here in Tampa, I was so excited. Max even wore his “Elmo shirt” which is really just a red polo shirt because he doesn’t have a Sesame Street shirt that fits him anymore (don’t worry, his Gigi took care of that when a merch purchase after the show). He was really looking forward to the show, literally counting down the days until Friday. “Two more days, mama,” he’d say.
I didn’t really go into the show with any expectations because I knew we were going for Max and I knew he’d love it. But, can I just say how much I loved it? Because this show was super cute! Elmo’s trying to learn magic, the Count is counting flowers in his garden, butterflies fly around the stage, there is singing and dancing that’s highly entertaining.
Max was clapping and swaying to the music and completely enthralled with what was happening. The only show he’s seen with Sesame Street is the short show at Busch Gardens. I expected Max to be excited. I expected the reaction from Max that I got. (He’s 2.5 years old, in case you don’t know.)
What I didn’t expect was the reaction from my 8 month old, Juliette. Juliette was clapping so much, stomping her feet, wanting to stand and dance and it was so flipping cute. She has big eyes already, but her eyes got even more wide as she watched this show.
I mean, honestly, I brought her along because my husband was at work and my mom was coming with me and Max so there wasn’t anyone else to watch her. I was on edge at first, just waiting for her to be unhappy about staying stationary, or getting sleepy or hungry, but she was amazing! I give credit to Sesame Street for making me and my children have such a great experience.
I HIGHLY recommend checking out the Sesame Street Live website to see when you can check out a show near you. It’s definitely worth your while.
I received Sesame Street Live! tickets in exchange for promoting, live coverage and a post-show review. Like always, all opinions and experiences are 100% my own and not influenced by a blogger/brand relationship.
