National Coffee Day | Coffee Milkshake
It’s pretty awesome having a husband who is really great at making all drinks – sweet, alcoholic, it doesn’t matter. It’s a skill of his and one more tally for things I appreciate about him. National Coffee Day is being celebrated with the same thing I celebrated National Coffee Milkshake Day with because why not?
When you have something that you make, and you make well, might as well continue making it, right? So with just a tad bit of cajoling, I had my husband make more coffee milkshakes for you, my readers’, pleasure.
Whenever we have dinner at my mom’s house and whenever we have company, we have these milkshakes. Served with both a straw and spoon, they are enjoyable, no matter which way you prefer to drink (eat) your milkshake.
And then he makes them to order, of course. Whip or no whip, extra chocolate or regular, do you want more cookies?
Plus, coffee is always served best with a straw to minimize the coffee stains on your teeth! I know someone who even drinks their red wine with a straw, but anyway, what better way to both be able to celebration National Coffee Day and prevent bad breath and teeth staining than with Orbit Sugarfree Gum?
If you’re in the NYC area, you’re in luck! Orbit will have a sampling team outside handing out samples of what happens to be my favorite brand of gum. They’ll be Union Square Park, NYC (Broadway/E. 17th – E. 14th / University Place / 4th Ave /Union Square E. / Park Ave S.) from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be quite the spectacle – including a massive truck filled to the brim with Orbit gum, segways and sampling bikes! Wish I could be there.
National Coffee Day | Coffee Milkshake
Ingredients:
- 3 cups extra-strength coffee
- 1 1/2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 1/2 Tbsp confectioners' sugar
- 1 1/2 cups ice + 1/2 cup
- 2 drops vanilla extract (or 1 Tbsp Hershey's chocolate syrup if you want it to be more chocolately)
- Whipped cream
- Crushed Oreos
Directions:
- Add all ingredients, except for the 1/2 cup ice, in a blender and blend until incorporated. Add in 1/2 cup ice and blend again.
- Pour evenly into cups and top with whipped cream and crushed Oreos.
Have you ever tried coffee syrup? You put it in milk to make coffee milk, which is the state drink of Rhode Island. It tastes like a melted coffee ice cream. It’s a good alternative for people like me who don’t drink coffee but still like a hint of the flavor.
NO, I have not! Definitely something I’ll look into getting because I don’t tend to drink coffee either (it’s usually too acidity for my tummy). Thanks!
