Get Creative at the Tampa Mini Maker Faire >> Glazer Children’s Museum
The Tampa Mini Maker Faire is coming to Glazer Children’s Museum on July 27!
One of my favorite things about Max (in case you’re new around here, Max is my three year old son) is his imagination. I mean, this kid just does so well sitting and playing by himself. I love listening in on the conversations he has among all of his toys, having trains and cars and even plastic eggs left over from Easter in on a scene that he’s created with dialogue and everything.
He builds and draws and “makes art” all of the time, and bestows many art presents upon me throughout the day. And, there is always a request that we do crafts.
I admit that I’m not a crafty individual, but there’s something about experiencing a craft with a fun toddler that makes you stop looking for perfection in your art piece and instead, truly enjoy time spent on something they really like to do. I now find myself getting supplies when we go to Target that’ll foster this side of him more and more.
When I heard about the Tampa Mini Maker Faire happening at Glazer Children’s Museum, I knew we had to go. This is the exact event that Max would really like. I try to not set too many age restrictions on my child unless it makes complete sense because I find that when he’s able to explore crafts and toys that are more suitable for a slightly older child, he still enjoys himself, learns a lot, and uses that item in his own way. This further fosters the creativity and imagination that I love so much.
Let me tell you a little bit about the Maker Faire. It’s a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they do. From engineers to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for makers to show hobbies, experiments, and projects. It’s a family-friendly showcase and takes place on July 27 from 10am-6pm at Glazer Children’s Museum.
Tickets are on sale now and the price is right for an entire day where you can see what other people are creating, all while encouraging your little ones to use their imagination.
And, by the way, it’s super fitting that this event is being held at Glazer Children’s Museum because it’s arguably one of the best (if not THE BEST) place for little minds to absorb and learn and grow. They even call themselves “Tampa’s interactive, learning laboratory where children play, discover, and connect to the world around them to develop as lifelong learners and leaders.”
This speaks to me so much because (quick story) I took this Gallup StrengthFinders test at one of my previous jobs and “Learner” was my third highest strength after “Input” and “Relator”. This basically means that my love of learning knows no bounds. I want to literally soak up as much information as possible. I will be one thrilled parent if I can have my children constantly asking me why something works (or doesn’t) or how something is made. The genuine interest that I see in Max makes my mommy heart flutter.
Anyway, I hope your family will join ours at the Tampa Mini Maker Faire on July 27. Or, if you’re a maker yourself, go ahead and sign up to showcase that you’ve been working on. I hope to see you all there!
