National Brandy Alexander Day | Sweet and Simple Brandy Alexander
The Brandy Alexander reminds me of Mad Men. A popular drink in American cocktail history, I immediately thought of the popular TV show when I saw this day on the food holiday calendar. While I can never hope of living during the time with the fashions that I really love, I can enjoy a Brandy Alexander whenever I want.
For today, I decided that I really didn’t want a traditional Brandy Alexander. It’s rainy and dreary and I wanted something that would perk me up. Ice cream always seems to do the trick. Into the freezer I went and grabbed my coveted vanilla ice cream, combined it with Creme de Cacao, brandy and chocolate syrup, and it was a milkshake that I was more than happy to have at 10am. It’s a frozen concoction that you will enjoy.
- 1 oz. Creme de Cacao
- 1.5 oz. brandy
- 5 large scoops vanilla ice cream
- Chocolate syrup
- Nutmeg
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Decorate the inside of your glass with chocolate syrup and pour blended drink into cup.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup and sprinkle nutmeg on top.
Tomorrow: National Baked Alaska Day
always wondered what went into one of those
Yeah, I didn’t really know either until I started doing some research, hehehe.
Uh, well, as someone who’s never had a Brandy Alexander before, I am SOLD on this drink. I mean… how could it NOT be good? Also, I love drinks like this that harken to another period of time and am all for bringing them back and LOVE this little rendition you did!
Thanks, Erin! For anyone who doesn’t like Brandy, like some friends of mine, the vanilla ice cream helps to cut that taste a little, too.
I have always wanted to have a Mad Men themed party! If I should ever, I’m making this.
You should and I’ll make the drinks. 😉
This looks really good! 🙂
