How Laundry Became my Favorite Chore

There are a number of friends of mine who have had children before me. Before, during and after pregnancy, I went down many a rabbit hole full of online videos. I read all about pregnancy and motherhood. I asked questions, and absorbed as much information as possible.
But do you know what you are never, ever prepared for? The thing that is never mentioned in any parenting book or discussion with friends? The activity that is so automatic some people don’t even think twice?
Why didn’t anyone warn me about the countless loads of laundry I’d be doing? How come it was not explained to me that you’ll always be behind? That you’ll forget to turn the dryer on and be met with wet, moldy clothes, and you’ll only realize it when you’re going to transfer a different load from washer to dryer? That you’ll feel like crying when you take a peek in your laundry room? That the laundry basket is one of the most used items in the house?

I mean, laundry and I weren’t really getting along. Especially when Juliette was born (my second — and last — child) and there was spit up and many a soiled onesie, and a toddler running around besides, laundry became the sworn enemy. It was the neverending demon lurking in the room of the house I hated most.
I’ve boycotted laundry before too. Just let it pile up, I thought, what’s the worst that can happen?
Well, eventually it needs to get done and then it’ll take you, like, 10 weeks. So, obviously, I don’t recommend that tactic.
There had to be a way to make laundry less grueling and, dare I try, fun. I enlisted my toddler for the task because at just over two years old, he is the most adorable thing on this planet and I love when he points out clothing by saying, “Mama’s dress! Dada’s pants! Sissy’s shirt!” as I put everything away. He gets a big kick out of identifying the clothing items and so I thought that involving him and making it a game will probably make me feel a little better about it all.
Plus, isn’t laundry just better when you can inhale a beautiful scent? Exclusive to Dollar General stores, I recently used the Fresh Water Sparkle™ scented Gain Flings™ Laundry Detergent Pacs, which have 50% more scent than the liquid laundry detergent. When you’re dealing with spit up from one child and sweat and dirt from your other one, a nice scent that also gets rid of any odor is necessary. These Gain flings!™ laundry pods are HE compatible for my new washer too!
Then, I used the new Gain fireworks!™ in-wash scent booster beads in Fresh Water Sparkle™ to get even more scent; all you have to do is directly shake the scent beads into the drum of your washer. Simple!
Lastly, I used the Gain Liquid Fabric Enhancer/Softener in Fresh Water Sparkle™. With littles, you want the softest clothes you can possible achieve to avoid irritation.
I’m loving these products because they are delicious smelling, are within a manageable price range and super convenient to both purchase and use. They bring a scent to my laundry that I’m so pleased with, it’s like I look forward to doing laundry just so I can get a whiff.
Try it for yourself and change the way you do laundry!
