Celebrating Ultra Strong Moms on Mother’s Day

Hefty® celebrates strong moms and I’m happy to partner with them on this blog post. I received compensation from Hefty® to create this post written by me. All experiences and opinions expressed in this post are my own and not those of Hefty®.

There are times that I look at my kids and know I’m their mom and feel like their mom, and there are times when I’m like, “I’m a mom?? When did that happen?”

That’s one of the crazy things about motherhood – it’s full of feeling two completely different ways about the same thing at the same time. A back and forth of emotions and thoughts. Like, “Yay! I get to celebrate Mother’s Day yet again!” and also “I can’t believe I get to celebrate Mother’s Day.”

But here we are, another year, and with each one there are traditions to be formed, lessons to be learned, experiences to be had. I LOVE being a mom and incorporating my own parenting style to our family. I enjoy coming up with new activities, showing my children the world, and I even enjoy seeing Max push the limits to see what he can get away with (it’s both frustrating and incredibly cute.)

When you’re a new mom – and I’ve only been doing this gig for two years – you start off with traditions from your own childhood. Those day-to-day moments that just stick with you your whole life and influence how you mother.

My family has always been big on family meals together. We would go out to dinner, sure, but the majority of our meals were had around a dining table. When I was a child, I remember my mom working all day at her job and then coming home and making dinner. We would sit together – mom, dad, me, my brother – and talk about our day. We’d laugh while passing around the sides. We’d talk about what we were looking forward to while taking a bite of chicken. We’d lovingly make fun of mom for yet another night of beef stew (it’s a specialty).

We took the time. We had the television off and sat around the table together, willingly and completely engaged, nearly every single night of the week.

After, we’d all help clean up – dishes, wiping the table, taking out the trash.

This is something I have done with my children since day one. Max loves having toddler conversation with us, and even Juliette, our three month old, loves to be a part of the dinnertime action. Even so young she’ll get upset if she isn’t sitting at the dinner table with her clan. And then Max loves helping to clean up, which is basically a dream!

All moments, but especially these, are special mom moments. There are messes, that is for sure, but moms are Ultra Strong in everything we do. Mom knew best when she had us sit around that dining table, and I hope one day my children say the same and then do the same for their own families.

When it comes to the cleaning up part, Hefty® Ultra Strong™ trash bags show their own kind of strength. Their Triple Action Technology definitely comes in handy to prevent the bottom of the bag from falling out and all over your feet at the community dumpster (don’t ask how that feels…) The bags are resistant to tearing and the drawstring won’t break, which is really good because just like our busy lives, I pile a lot in one trash bag and then lift it and think, “Uh-oh,” but with Hefty® that’s not a problem!

Life is messy, and it’s especially messy with children. But it’s the good kind of messy. The kind where you have multiple loads of laundry to do because your son is really into popsicles in the summer. The kind where you can barely navigate through your home because your toddler wanted to take every puzzle piece he has and just throw them in the air like confetti. The kind where you just collapse into a deep sleep at the end of the day because it was that good and that exhausting, all at the same time.

So cheers to all my fellow moms. I see you. I know mom life is a good life, but also full of many other emotions. I know it can be a lot and I know you are doing the best you can. You’re doing great and your kids know it. They love you because of it. And every mess, every one of those back to back yawns that happen around the 2:00 hour, every moment you get excited about yet another round of the ABC’s, is 100% worth it.

Enjoy your Mother’s Day!
