Wildgrain Subscription Box (Sourdough Breads, Pastries, Fresh Pasta) + Discount Code
Disclosure: I’m partnering with Wildgrain for this campaign. In addition to monetary compensation to give an honest review, I was gifted one subscription box to try everything out for myself. As always (and forever), everything I write about on this website is my express and total opinion and is not at all influenced by a brand partnership. #WildgrainKitchen #ad
During the pandemic, home cooks and bakers of all levels were making lots and lots of sourdough. I also tried my hand at it, thinking that with some sourdough starter and plenty of patience, I could soon be breaking into my own loaf. I nurtured and loved on my little lovely sourdough, feeding it at regular intervals, and eventually made really great pancakes from it. Even so, it wasn’t a sustainable practice for me, personally.
Still, sourdough remains my favorite type of bread. Not only is it delicious, but it’s easier on the digestive system. It’s all around a really solid bread and part of the reason why Wildgrain’s subscription box is so appealing to me.
If you combine my love of convenient and interesting subscription boxes with my intense enjoyment of sourdough and things like pastas and pastries, you have Wildgrain. I can honestly say that the idea of this type of consistent delivery to my door had me beyond excited. Just some of the perks of Wildgrain include:
- You get real sourdough without having to put in the work yourself. I mean, for the most part, life is back to normal. We are a busy family, and the idea of nursing a sourdough starter again is just not in the cards for me.
- The ingredients are clean. To know me is to know that this is important to me.
- It’s convenient, both becomes it’s delivered (for free!) right to your door, but also because you can bake the frozen breads and pastries in just 25 minutes. Yes, you bake right from frozen. There’s no need to defrost anything!
- You’re supporting small bakeries throughout the country. Wildgrain sources their products from small bakeries, so you can feel good about knowing you’re making a difference in the lives of a small business owner.
- They donate meals. Wildgrain has committed to donating six meals for every individual who signs up for a membership. Meals are donated to The Greater Boston Food Bank.
In fact, I have a code for you! You, too, can experience the beauty of Wildgrain. It’s one of the best subscription boxes I’ve had yet. Simply use code jenniferb for $30 off your first Wildgrain box through August 31, 2022. Order before May 1st and get free sourdough rolls for life.
Of course, all of this sounded good, but it was time to put Wildgrain to the test. Here are the results:
Chocolate Avalanche Croissants
Chocolate croissants are one of those pastries I don’t normally order for myself, but on a Sunday morning before we headed out for the day, I simply preheated my oven, reached into my freezer, and popped a baking sheet of these lovelies in for 25 minutes while my kids were slowly rolling out of bed. In minutes, the fresh smell of pastry and chocolate spread everywhere. Even more so once they were actually out of the oven and I was cutting into them as fast as I could. There were no leftovers, as I was just as ravenous as the rest of the family. We’re looking forward to having more!
Sourdough Loaf
I very obviously loved this thing. I baked it up on a random weekday in the middle of my workday so I could have a chicken sandwich for lunch. I would bet that you wouldn’t be able to tell that this didn’t come straight from a local bakery. It was the exact texture and flavor that sourdough should be: chewy, crunchy, tangy.
We finished off random slices of the bread throughout the day and I had some avocado toast for breakfast the next morning. I could easily make this a habit.
Tonnarelli Pasta
Another night of the week, there I went into the kitchen to cook an easy dinner. You’d think that frozen pasta would cook much slower than your regular boxed pasta, but that wasn’t the case. With just 6-8 minutes of cook time, there was a lovely pasta to work into my homemade vodka sauce.
Again, the texture of the pasta was wonderful and it was like eating freshly made pasta right from my pasta attachment but without all the hard work. The appeal of this is that, while I enjoy a meal that actually is somewhat laborious, I rarely have the time to do it. Instead, what I want most is the option to have a hearty meal on the table in a reasonable amount of time. With Wildgrain being able to help me with this, I’m fairly certain I’ll be holding on to this subscription for some time.
The other items in my box for this month included fettuccine noodles, sesame sourdough loaf, sourdough rolls, and a slow-fermented cranberry pecan loaf.
Wildgrain’s box would make for a wonderful mother’s day gift, shared anniversary present, or just a gift to yourself just because. Remember to use code jenniferB for $30 off your first box! Enjoy!
