How to Stay Healthy While Working From Home

I have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Nature Made®. All opinions are mine alone. #NatureMadeAtWalgreens #NatureMadeGummies #CollectiveBias

I transitioned out of Corporate America in October 2017, and have been steadily growing my business ever since. It has been such a treasure to me to make my own schedule, stay at home with my young children and do the things I want to do, however, something like that could come at a price. There have been times when I knew I was just not taking care of myself the way that I should. So, to help you, my readers, not fall into the same routine that I did, here are my tips for staying healthy while working from home.

work set up in office

Even if you’re not self-employed in a full-time or part-time capacity, there are plenty of jobs now that operate remotely and the number continues to rise as businesses realize the importance of providing a wonderful work/life balance for their staff. Regardless of your situation, it’s so important to be mindful of your daily routine and practice healthy habits. Below are some of the tips I use to live a happier healthier life.

Tip #1: Take breaks throughout the day.

This actually even applies to any office job because there are no benefits to being completely sedentary at work for hours on end. Try to move around at least once every two hours. Make that break count by going for a good walk around the neighborhood (a healthy dose of sunshine is so good for you!) or performing active stretches. You could even join a gym and take your favorite workout class in the middle of the day.

Plus, it’s just beneficial to walk away from your desk for a period of time to reset and refocus, particularly if you’re in the middle of a project that is making your eyes cross and causing you any stress. Taking a refocus break can help you come back to your desk with increased productivity, creativity, and motivation.

Tip #2: Get a good night’s sleep.

As a work from home mom, who was mostly doing work after the kids were in bed and before they woke up in the morning, I found myself sleeping terribly. I had formed this insane sleep routine that basically consisted of about four hours of sleep per night, from about the hours of midnight to 4 am. I did this for long enough that even when I intended to sleep more, my body wouldn’t allow me to.

I turned to Nature Made® Melatonin 10 mg Gummies, a supplement that truly helped my sleep pattern and allowed my brain and my body to get the restful sleep they had been craving for months. I felt more focused and rested the next day which helped me improve my work and my overall attitude. Nature Made® Melatonin 10 mg Gummies helps you naturally‡ fall asleep faster, a necessity for me because after I shut down my computer, my brain was still on overdrive and I had a hard time getting my Zzzz’s in. The gummy supplements I have contains 10 mg of melatonin per 2 gummies.

Tip #3: Support your heart health.

Working from home is more stressful than some people give it credit for. At least for me, managing a family and my business means I feel like I work around the clock, plus I look around and see dishes that can be done, laundry that can be put away, and toys scattered everywhere.

Of course, I can always improve my time management (and that’s something I am working on). Supplements like Nature Made® Fish Oil Gummies which provide 57 mg of the heart-healthy Omega-3s EPA and DHA per serving are essential to my work-from-home health.

Tip #4: Meal prep for your lunches.

I love to cook, and I would love to spend more time in the kitchen, but you put me in a work from home job, I’m going to snack and not really eat how I probably should. If I worked in a traditional job, I would pack my lunches for work so why not do the same when you work from home?

ello food storage containers meal prep

I still meal prep (to the best of my ability) and make sure to eat those meals instead of ordering less desirable food in. I even keep my food parceled out so I don’t have to worry about a thing.  And there you have it. Those are my top tips for how to stay healthy while working from home. Remember to visit Walgreens for the BOGO offer on Nature Made® Gummies. (Buy 1 get 1 free on any Nature Made® supplements at Walgreens, between 11/01/19 and 11/30/19.) There is such a great variety both in-store and online that I’m confident you’ll find what you need. They taste great and you’ll feel good while taking them! Nature Made® is a brand you can trust. Nature Made® has been around for over 45 years and offers a variety of gummy products at Walgreens.

‡Supplements melatonin, a hormone found naturally in the body.
