Celebrating National Hamburger Month with Culver’s and the ButterBurger
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Culver’s. The opinions and text are all mine.
Do you remember when I challenged myself to cooking through the National Food Holidays? I spent the entirety of 2014 working on that challenge and while most of those food holidays are now a distant memory, there are a handful I’ll continue to celebrate for many years to come. One of my favorites is National Hamburger Day on May 28 – and May is National Hamburger Month (!!!) – because who in their right mind doesn’t love a juicy burger with all the toppings and condiments?
Especially in Florida, when May indicates the start of summer and there are pools to swim in, beaches to visit, and grills to put to use, I wouldn’t be surprised if burgers were the #1 consumed food during these months.
When the sun is shining during these longer days of summer, I want a burger in my hands more than any other time of the year. I’m not always able to make my own burgers, but thankfully when the mood strikes, I can get a BetterBurger from Culver’s. I know what you may be thinking: “but it’s not the same”. But they’re more like your in-home burger than you might think.
I tend to make my own food for as many meals as possible, but I have to say that if I want a quick, quality burger, Culver’s is a great option. Let me tell you why:
- The beef: It’s fresh, never frozen, and only prepared after you place your order. Explains why the burgers taste fresh. Culver’s also uses 100% Midwest beef that’s a combination of sirloin, chuck and plate.
- Cooking method: Your burger isn’t cooked until after you’ve placed your order. That means no burgers just waiting under a heater and nothing pre-cooked and frozen before ordering. Place your order, customize it any way you like (I get almost everything!), and enjoy their signature bun that’s lightly buttered and toasted.
- Speaking of buns: Their “ButterBurgers” are so named because they give an extra touch of delicious by lightly buttering the very top of the bun. It’s a little touch that goes a long way.
So when I went to Culver’s the other day (with Krystal, who also shared her Culver’s experience), I stood in front of that menu and tried to decide what to order with my burger. Would I go for the onion rings or the crinkle cut fries? While I do love both, the crinkle cut wins because it’s just a classic! I love anything that’s just a little different than the norm. Once you order, take a number, have a seat and just wait until your meal is brought to you. Although they do cook your burger from scratch, it doesn’t take too long because they have their system down. Experts, I tell ya.
And now let me ask: Is there really anything better than a perfectly fresh burger, customized to your liking, with a side of classic crinkle cut fries and a Pepsi? I think not!
