Brunch With a View at American Social >> Harbor Island, Tampa

What I love about Tampa is that we have pretty solid weather year-round. Sure, sometimes it’s so so so hot and it’s like, I am not going outside for all the rest of my life. Oh, and turn on all the fans in the house, please. 

But mostly it’s fantastic! It’s breezy and you can wear sundresses, and it’s even better by the water. My clan and I recently had the opportunity to check out American Social which is located next to Jackson’s on Harbour Island. Jackson’s is a brunch staple in Tampa and where many people gather to watch Gasparilla every year, too.

When we arrived at American Social, I immediately noticed the great specials they have during the week. A $6 appetizer menu and 1/2 off drinks? Yes. They offer this happy hour every Monday-Friday from 4-7pm. Plus, $5 burgers on Mondays and $10 pizzas + 50% off select glasses and bottles of wine every Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to going back!

At American Social, you’ll find four full-service bars, a raw bar, and plenty of space outside to sit and enjoy being close to the water. 

On this visit, we went during brunch, which includes so many menu options plus an all-you-can-eat buffet AND free mimosa for the ladies with the purchase of an entree or buffet plate.

This visit I had the Chicken B.L.A.T, which is southern fried chicken, fried egg, jalapeño bacon, leaf lettuce, avocado, honey aioli, tomato, vidalia onion on a brioche bun with french fries. 

I loved this sandwich because, I mean, fried chicken is always amazing, and it was a little different than your average sandwich too because of the slightly spicy bacon and the aioli. 

Mike chose the buffet and enjoyed these corned beef hash patties, an omelet from the omelet station, fruit, pastries, and more. 

Max had the cheeseburger kids meal, which was only $6 and a good sized portion! I was surprised. He loved it, especially the sweet potato fries. 

There is definitely something to be said about relaxing by the water, enjoy food with your family and really feeling grateful for living where you do. If you’re in the area, check out American Social and enjoy brunch favorites like Strawberry French Toast (with Nutella mascarpone!), Short Rib Biscuit (with red wine short rib!), Breakfast Pizza, and Frittata (with pimento cheese, caramelized onions and bacon lardon!). Plus, try out that oyster bar if that’s your thing. They have both east and west coast oysters, plus peel and eat shrimp.
