When I put my mind to something, I stick with it. The problem before this plan is I didn’t tend to put my mind to anything diet-related. I didn’t do too shabby with my meals, but I certainly didn’t commit to anything solid. Now, officially a little bit into this program and I can tell you that I feel a difference and I’m glad I’ve tried it out. I went into this with a couple of things that I wanted to get out of this plan, including more energy, better sleep, and weight loss. I’m happy to say that I notice a difference on all of these.
First, energy. I usually have some energy during the day, but then when nighttime rolls around, my energy is completely nonexistent. While I figured that was normal for a mom who is working full-time and taking care of two small kids all day long, I was overwhelmingly exhausted. To the point where my husband and I would put the kids to bed and then I’d immediately fall asleep on the couch, not even able to make it to our room so I could actually sleep in a bed. Exhaustion isn’t completely gone, of course, but I definitely have renewed energy after a busy day.
As for better sleep, that’s part of it too. I’m now able to get to bed at a good hour, sleep deeper, and am ready to conquer the day in the morning. Before, I was waking up in the middle of the night multiple times, unable to immediately go back to sleep either.
Lastly, weight loss. I’ve never lost confidence in how I look and feel, but I’ve always wanted to improve. I just didn’t have the drive or desire enough to make it happen. Instead of just going about my days like normal, I have been following this plan and see the pounds falling off, which is motivating in and of itself.
Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion is now available to purchase.
Obviously, this is a food website so let’s talk a little about the food from the book. There are plenty of recipes so you can plan out your meals and make it easier on yourself to stick to the diet. There are two I’ve tried that stick out: the Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet and Cherry Garcia Ice Cream.
In our home, we love rice and other Latin ingredients. I knew the kids would also love this meal so it was a no-brainer to try to out for ourselves.
I also tried this ice cream because I am used to having a couple of scoops of ice cream every night. It’s an indulgence that I don’t really want to get rid of completely, so seeing this recipe for Cherry Garcia in the cookbook was so exciting. It’s a simple, no-churn recipe that everyone will love.
Although I love to cook and manage this recipe site, there are periods of time when I get stuck in a rut or feel very uninspired. I’ve been so grateful for the meal plans that Joel includes in his book because I don’t even think about what to eat or what I’m going to serve my family. Plus, they make dieting easy and eliminates 90% of the reasons for resistance. You don’t have to be afraid of eating later at night or indulging in a sweet treat because you’re encouraged to give into your food cravings with some guidance.
As Joel says in Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight, “Research shows that the average person’s metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day. In short, your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it’s 8 am or 8 pm, you use food for energy the same way.”
