Ever since becoming a work from home mom my life has drastically changed. I always knew, even before having kids, that I wanted to be here for them, but the actual logistics of day-to-day life with two children and a lot of freelance work just did.not.compute. My husband and I were hoping for two children close together in age, and we’re blessed to have gotten this, but it is also proving to be much more difficult than I ever imagined.

I remember when I was newly pregnant with Max, I would look for a day-in-the-life style post on how real motherhood was, both from moms who worked outside of the home and moms who stayed at home, not knowing for sure which group I’d end up being a part of. Turns out, I’d end up being a part of both groups, and now that I have a little bit more experience on the ‘at home’ side, I thought I’d share a real day in the life for all the new moms and moms-to-be!

Thankfully, as of about a month ago, Juliette is sleeping through the night. What this usually looks like is her falling asleep by 9pm and waking up around 5am. In the middle of the night, I pump and store the breast milk for later. Sometimes Juliette wakes up, but whether or not she does, it’s like your body is hardwired to be awake for some unexplained reason. Cue the coffee later.

By 7am, I enter the stage where I wonder if I’ll ever sleep again. Juliette, after eating, is both wanting to go back to sleep and stay awake and this little conundrum in her head makes her brain hurt and she gets upset. I usually rock her back to sleep and then try to get some more shut eye.

Well, if it isn’t Max. Just when I felt like I could maybe get another hour’s worth of sleep, Max wakes me up like none other can. He’s loud and very demanding of toy trains so early in the morning. Come join the party, Max. Most of the time his loud vocals can be heard where Juliette is sleeping and sometimes, it’s good game America because that girl will wake up. He thinks rubbing her head will put her back to sleep and it’s so adorable I don’t want to correct him.

After breakfast and after the very arduous task of dressing two children, we head out to our adventures of the day. Getting the kids in the car is actually the biggest adventure there is. We leave Max’s shoes in the car (because germs) so while holding Juliette’s car seat with o ne arm, I’m carrying Max to the car with the other. Inevitably I forget something inside, maybe once, maybe twice, and I’m caught running back and forth enough to make me calculate how long I have until naptime because I’m not sure how much longer I can stay on my own two feet.

One of the purposes behind getting out of the house is to get something we need. I could visit the store every single day and I’d probably still need some small item that I forgot. During this particular visit to Walmart, I purchased the Enfamil NeuroPro and Playtex Baby™ Nurser Bottles with Drop-Ins® Liners because we’re transitioning Juliette to a different bottle that’ll hold as much milk as she’s consuming.

Enfamil NeuroPro

Since my breast milk is on fast diminish mode, Enfamil NeuroPro™ is what we love to have on-hand for the baby. Transitioning from breast milk, I love that this formula is the first one that has an MFGM and DHA blend for brain-building benefits similar to breast milk*. DHA is a fatty acid that fosters learning ability and MFGM (Milk Fat Globule Membrane) in formula supports brain development.

Enfamil NeuroPro-1

When it comes to the bottles, Playtex is a brand I trust. These Nursers with Drop-ins® Liners are closer to natural breastfeeding than similar bottle systems, too, thanks to the Naturalatch nipple.

While supplies last, moms can purchase Enfamil® NeuroPro and Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners at Walmart and save up to $6.50 with Ibotta. To redeem the offer, download the Ibotta app, scan your receipt with both items, and save!

One other thing I’m constantly doing around here are the dishes. I still cook most of our meals so dishes pile up fast. Once I’ve finished a load, I look around and smile while thinking of how much easier bottle cleanup is with these pre-sterilized liners that can just be dropped in for a clean bottle every time.

Aside from the store, we like to go to the library for books and story time. We enjoy the zoo and theme parks in the area. Come mid-afternoon it’s time for lunch and naps and, if I’m lucky, we’ll all take a little snooze at the same time. A typical afternoon involves laundry and more dishes and cleaning and oh, let’s not forget cuddles with the very patient dog who has just been hanging out and watching our lives unfold. This is also the time when I’ll finally get some freelance work done.

Once nap time is over, it’s time to start making dinner while continuing to play with the kids. We’ll walk the dog, get the mail, open any packages we’ve received (Max loves doing this and Juliette loves to watch), and then start the night routine around 8pm when we start all over again, beginning with more freelance work once everyone is visiting Dreamland.
