Do you get up really early on Thanksgiving, all excited about the food and company that lies ahead? I do. 🙋🏻
So it’s only appropriate that I feature a fall french toast recipe that’s perfect for getting your Thanksgiving day (or any weekend morning, let’s be honest) off to a great start. I recommend brioche bread for any french toast recipe because I think it’s just the best. It absorbs all the flavors well and it’s thick enough to not get soggy once you soak it in egg.
The ingredients in this breakfast recipe are simple: bread, eggs, milk, vanilla, and a lovely combination of fall flavors that you may very well have in your home year-round anyway – cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg. That’s it! You whisk these goodies together in a shallow dish, soak some bread, and than pan fry it in some butter on your stovetop, I mean…it doesn’t get any easier than this and sets a wonderful tone for a day of feasting!
I’ve made this recipe twice in the past week and I should say it’s because I wanted to get the flavor just right for you all, but if we’re all friends here, it’s because this preggo needed so much french toast. An embarrassing amount that I’m not even embarrassed about. And maple syrup or honey, whichever struck my fancy at that time because #YOLO.
Get your Thanksgiving day started right!
