National Hot Mulled Cider Day | Hot Cider

National Hot Mulled Cider Day | Hot Cider

I have to say that I’m not a big fan of hot mulled cider. First of all, what is ‘mulled’, anyway? It sounds crazy.

This cider is good though because it’s apple juice as opposed to apple cider already created. I don’t know, it’s just different. 🙂

Happy National Hot Mulled Cider Day!

Ingredients:

  • 1 orange, washed
  • 4 cups (1 quart) apple juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the apple juice, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Place the saucepan over medium heat and warm the juice until tiny bubbles appear around the edges of the pan. Simmer gently for 20 minutes, reducing the heat as needed to keep the juice from boiling. Remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Put an orange slice in each glass, sprinkle with cinnamon.
Recipe adapted slightly from Williams-Sonoma.

 Tomorrow: National Homemade Cookies Day
