You know when you find something you love so much, you’ll go to the ends of the earth to procure it and in the process, you’ll gladly spend a bajillion dollars on it just to get it in your grubby little hands? That’s me with caramel apples. By ends of the earth, I mean up to an hour in traffic to a candy shop and by bajillion dollars, I mean $15, which is the most I’ve spent for a caramel apple (Disney, duhh).
I could be happy with caramel and apple dippers, you know, those combo packs you can get from the grocery store, but the excitement is fleeting as there is a) never enough caramel for the apples, and b) still feels like a healthy snack item as opposed to the luscious mega-calorie indulgence that a serious caramel apple probably is.
You need a caramel apple that’s ooey-gooey, where with one bite and a pull away from your mouth, there is some serious caramel string going on. The kind the hits your chin when it’s finally released from the apple. There’s, perhaps, something like it.
