Spring Cleaning & Organizing with OXO
This post is done in partnership with OXO. They provided me with these products and all my opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting those who support The Foodie Patootie!
Spring is officially here! Commence the Sound of Music memes with Julie Andrews and her large skirt, twirling around in a field of flowers. Oh, heck let me just share it with you here👇
You may very well think me a little crazy, but spring to me means more than breezy weather and blue skies and pretty flowers. It means the beginning of spring cleaning! Although my house, more often than I would like, would make you question the validity of what I’m about to tell you, I assure you it’s the truth.
I love to clean. I love when the house is quiet and the blinds are just open enough to let in the light as the weekend sun comes out and you’re alone, just you and the house and maybe some music. I love a clean home. More, I love a clean and organized home. I have always said that I can’t wait to actually get into a forever home because I’ll take on the philosophy of ‘everything has a place and there’s a place for everything’. It’s my ideal that I haven’t been able to achieve because we’ve been renting.
So, I do what I can. With an infant/toddler (he’s 11 months – when does toddler status become official??), it’s not always easy and you’re essentially just picking up from the day’s activities before doing all over again the next day. Most of the time, it’s hard to actually clean unless you want to be up way past your bedtime. Anything to make this easier on me or make me more efficient, I’m down for.
First, cleaning is made so much easier with OXO’s (psst, it’s pronounced OX-OH) Kitchen Appliance Cleaning Set. The set is four tools that basically fit into your hand. Not only do they work well, but to have four cleaning products condensed to something small enough to fit in a drawer and minimize the space that’s taken up with cleaning supplies is a big bonus for me.
The set comes with a loop brush that’s perfect for juicer parts or blender blades, an angled brush for sink hardware and tight spaces, a chisel scraper for the grooves and nooks on common appliances, and a flat scraper for baked-on messes. 🙌🏼 Thank you, OXO.
Max has been coming into the kitchen almost every time I’m in there. It used to be that I could make dinner or do dishes and he’d quietly play by himself in the living room. Our kitchen looks over into the living room and so more often than not, when he realizes I’m out of the room, I’ll see him start crawling over to me. As you can imagine, I need to have my kitchen floors spotless for his little hands and because he wants to put everything in his mouth.
OXO’s Microfiber Under Appliance Duster is different than anything I’d ever had before. I consider myself to be pretty good at cleaning, but honestly? I have never cleaned under appliances before! Ever. I cannot even imagine what has built up under my oven and in other small crevices over the years because when I used this duster, I immediately filled it. We’ve only lived in this house since November so with the previous places I’ve lived, I don’t even want to think about it. This duster is revolutionary for me! 🙌🏼
Now when it comes to organization, I like to remove food from its original packaging and store in nice containers. First, you can see everything much better and it just makes for a more put-together pantry. OXO’s 10-Piece POP Container Set is stackable and space-efficient, plus airtight with their lids. I store everything from spaghetti (it’s like the tall skinny container is meant for some noodles) to dried fruits to this new package of nutritional yeast I purchased the other day.
I definitely plan on purchasing a couple more sets because there is always something to be stored! Next too is a label maker so I can keep track of what everything is. Now my pantry is looking good! 🙌🏼
