Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried dates
  • 2 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 3 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300*F.
  2. Combine baking soda with water. Soak dates for 30 minutes.
  3. Cream sugar and butter together. Add eggs, vanilla, dates, nuts, flour, and salt.
  4. Bake for 1 hour.
